🍷 The Wassail Private Custom Tour

What is Wassail?

• The event is called Wassail and is organized by the Prince Edward County Winegrowers Association.

• It’s a festive celebration of the harvest — essentially a “good-night to the sleeping vines” event as the wineries prepare for winter.

• The name “wassail” comes from an Old Norse toast ves heill (“be well”) which evolved by the 14th century into the drink itself (wine/beer/cider with spices) that people shared around the holidays.

• Why it’s great

  • It offers a seasonal experience — the vineyards winding down harvest, the focus shifting into winter, so it’s a more relaxed vibe than peak summer tourism.

  • It connects you with the local wine/cider scene in PEC, giving you chances to explore smaller venues and enjoy harvest-season flavours.

  • The event combines culture (singing, tradition), food & drink, local produce and wineries, which is a nice way to experience the region off-peak. Participating venues (2025)
