Stuart was a fantastic tour guide! We chose the all in package with 4 wineries and a cider house to finish (all fees included)! He even threw in a couple surprises that added the cherry on top to the day! Thanks again, Stuart. We will be back.

Stuart was a great tour guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, very patient. He brought us to all of the places we wanted to visit. After visiting them all, we had time left to see a couple more. Stuart knew where to take us based on the type of wines we liked.
We had a great time! Thank you, Stuart, for making it an enjoyable experience for us! I highly recommend PEC Custom Wine Tours!

We were 3 friends spending a long awaited weekend away in PEC. We had variable knowledge of the county so decided to book a private wine tour with Prince Edward County Custom Wine Tours - smartest decision ever.
Stuart was our guide and was in touch a couple of days before our tour to determine which wineries/distilleries we were interested in. He also provided insider tips about things to check out and where to eat. (He was so right about the fish tacos at La Condesa in Wellington!)
On the day of the tour Stuart picked us up on time in an immaculate vehicle well stocked with bottles of water and hand sanitizer. He drove us to the wineries we had selected and also suggested a couple of other stops that ended up being some of the highlights of our entire weekend! Pro tip - the lobster rolls at Lacey Estates are not to be missed! Also Stuart was thoughtful enough to provide some cinnamon rolls from The Wellington Bakery as a late morning snack - they were amazing and much appreciated after the first few boozy stops!
All and all we cannot recommend this experience enough - it was the best day!

Every time I go to PEC I make sure to book Stuart for a day. He is friendly, extremely knowledgeable and patient. We are able to customize our day and can rely on his timeliness and advice to make the most of our trip. Highly recommend!!!

We had a great tour with Stuart! The booking process was easy and he was was very responsive - and when we had to reschedule to a later date he was very accommodating, which I really, really appreciated.
Stuart picked us up at our hotel right on time and we spent a leisurely afternoon driving around to various wineries and restaurants in the county. He was very easy going, we never felt rushed. We will 100% book again with Stuart and will recommend him to our friends! Thanks so much Stuart!

We booked a custom wine tour with Stuart for our long awaited girls weekend and we were not disappointed. We asked for recommendations and were very pleased with the locations selected. As the day progressed we made requests and he was able to accommodate what we asked for, no issues. We ended up visiting 5 wineries, 1 brewery, and 1 distillery and overall had a lovely day! We would highly recommend PEC Custom Wine Tours and would book again if we go back.

We booked a tour for six of us and it was a great experience. Stuart clearly knows his wineries (and breweries and cideries). We asked to visit the smaller, more out-of-the-way wineries and he delivered. He was courteous, informative about wineries in the area, and had suggestions for ones we could visit on our own time. Would recommend booking with him (if he's not already booked up for the season.)

Our current Pizza offering is basically Omnivore or Vegetarian:
The Sweet Hornet… Fior di Latte, Spicy Soppressata, Black Olives, Hot Honey
The Mediterranean… Tomato, Garlic, Black Olive, Red Onion, Oregano, Chilis, Pecorino, Sicilian Anchovy
The Margherita… Tomato, Mozzarella, Fior di Latte, Parmesan, Basil, Olive Oil

A bold cherry forward nose with notes of raspberry, cinnamon spice, and earthiness. The bright, almost candied, cherry-dominant fruitiness carries over to the palate, deftly balanced with lively tannins and an impressively stayed finish.
"It’s a classic iron fist in a velvet glove Pinot with a bold nose of black raspberries, cassis, earthy/spicy notes, and anise. It has firm tannins on the palate but reveals pretty red berries, earthy notes and anise that is all together rich and complex with a spicy, lifted finish. Can cellar for 7+ years." New Ciders & Ciders selling out
We released our first single variety of Kingston Black this summer. The apples are from our orchard & Kingston Black is considered the royalty of single varieties in the cider world - a perfect balance of soft tannin, acidity and sugar. Add a touch of delicate floral aroma and you have an absolutely delightful cider.
This Kingston Black has a more intense profile than others I’ve tried (from the West Coast of Canada + US), which I think must come from our orchard location - hot, dry conditions leave small fruit with very powerful flavour profiles. This is the first single variety Kingston Black that we’ve seen in Ontario & with the biennial nature of these trees, we won’t get another crop until 2023. There was only a single barrel of cider, so this super rare cider really won’t last long.

The Other One
We have a second single varietal from our orchard this year, which is also from our estate orchard. Yarlington Mill is even more intense in profile than Kingston Black, with a very clove-like aroma, which is typical for this variety.
Like the Yarlington Mill, these apples are very rare in Canada & this is the first single variety Yarlington Mill we’ve seen in Ontario. Again, the flavour profile is more intense than those I’ve tasted from the West Coast & is more similar to the UK ciders made with the same apples.
These apples are frustrating to grow, as they are extremely susceptible to a bacterial infection called fireblight. We cut out about 30-40% of our trees last year. Not sure if we will be able to repeat this single variety in the near future with what is left of the trees.

Wines from Rosehall Run Vineyards. #wine, #princeedwardcounty, #customwinetours,#pinotnoir
Dan and Lynn Sullivan, with support from Cam Reston (JCR), founded Rosehall Run in 2000. The 150-acre farm was selected due to its proximity to Lake Ontario (1-2 kms on three sides) and the remarkable clay soil scattered with rock and shale fragments on a calcareous limestone base. One of the earliest Prince Edward County wineries established in the west central region known as Hillier Ward; planting of the vineyard began in 2001 with Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Today there are 25 acres of vinifera including Pinot Gris, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Muscat and Tempranillo.
Rosehall Run has always been a working farm; in 2001 operations were established to accommodate the needs of an efficient and utilitarian grape growing farm, and subsequently a winemaking operation. A modest barn was first constructed as a grape processing, wine production and barrel storage facility. A focus on state-of-the-art winemaking led to the design and construction of a 7,200 sq ft winery facility and barrel cellar blasted deep into the limestone foundation. Finally, in the original winemaking facility, a modern Tasting Room was created, offering visitors a warm and inviting space to sample Rosehall Run’s critically acclaimed wines.
Each bottle of Rosehall Run wine is an expression of the winemaking expertise of co-founder, viticulturalist and winemaker Dan Sullivan and the unique site that he chose to establish the vineyards in 2001. Dan practices a hands-on approach to winemaking that begins in the vineyard. The results are wines that are balanced and elegant, a unique reflection of both terroir and vintage, and a testament to the ongoing journey of discovery taking place in one of the youngest appellations in the new world, Prince Edward County.
Our Tasting Room and Retail Store are Open Daily from 11AM - 5PM
Guests are invited to participate in a self-guided tasting of a selection of our popular PEC wines. Tastings begin at $15/pp for a flight of 4x 1oz. samples. Selections, including wine by the glass, can be enjoyed in the Rosehall Run Tasting Room, at our outdoor picnic tables, or on the deck overlooking the vineyard. Reservations are not required and guests will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.
Limited indoor space is available during inclement weather. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate groups larger than 8 guests.

This Month’s Lineup
When thinking about ageing Orange wine there are a few things to consider: How long did the wine spend on the skins? What type of vessel did it live in? How much oxygen contact did it have? How much sulphur was added?
This month we dig into our own wines to see how they are developing and also ask industry star Anne Sperling and columnist/author Simon J. Woolf on their insights to the ageability of Orange Wines.
My Tasting Notes Now: A beautiful golden colour. Rich, yolk-heavy lemon curd with spicy rose petals and a dusty floral note on the nose. Lemon steel with delicate tannins and a mild acidity. I recommend trying this wine chilled to put the wine into better balance.
1 x 2019 ORNG (Library Wine)
243 days on skin. Spiced orange and ginger on the nose. A strong acid backbone in this wine carry the tannins and citrus driven flavours through to the finish. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with a minute amount of sulphur added.
2021 Skin-Fermented Gewürz. (250ml Sample)
A very fresh pink-orange wine. Aromatics of rose petal, lemon and rosemary leap out of the glass. The palate is acidic with chalky tannins and a soft lemon finish. This wine is still in tank and has yet to have any added sulphur. Set to be bottled in the next week or two.
2021 ORNG (250ml Sample)
Very pale orange in colour, delicate peppery notes with just a hint of citrus. This wine is taking a rest from the big transition it just faced with its pressing. The palate is quite light in weight compared to other years, but has a very strong acid backbone. There is a lot of purity and creaminess on the mid-palate that carries the tannins through to the end. This wine needs some time to age in barrel, allowing flavours to concentrate and settle, before I bottle it.

Try our new 18-hole County Disc Golf Course this season.
Disc golf is similar to the game of golf, except that players throw different types of discs from the tee-off point to the "hole" (a large pole-mounted basket). Our course is 800 meters in length and comprises of 9 par-3 holes and is located on the beautiful grounds of Black Prince Winery, centrally located in Picton, Prince Edward County Ontario. Accessible by walking or bicycle via the Millenium Trail. We are geared towards recreational players and are family-friendly. You can also find us on the Disc Golf App UDISC.
Beginners welcome! I offer lessons and will show players how to throw a disc for distance, or the technique for getting a disc to curve around obstacles such as trees or grape vines. Bring your own gear or rent or buy from us. Available for groups and special events.
Summer season ends October 31st 2021.

Loch Mór Cider Company
Loch Mor Cider blends contain carefully selected heritage and cider varieties, which are pressed on-site and fermented slowly at low temperatures. Many of our ciders are bottle conditioned, creating a natural, fine stream of bubbles. Some are fermented naturally with wild/house culture yeast & others are inoculated with strains of wine yeast.
We like our cider full of flavour and not full of sugar. We leave our cider “full juice”, which means we can provide you with a drier (lower sugar) cider with the full flavour for you to enjoy.
Cider judges also agree – our ciders have won awards for two years in a row, including for our fortified cider, Pommeau, which has won twice. (we were the first to produce this traditional style of cider in Ontario, and we think the second in Canada).
